After fiddling with the phone to a point of nearly giving it away, i managed to fix the display to normal. 

ok. here's how i did it.
1. 1st you have to access the phone's engineering screen. to do this you have to hold down the "back" key and tap the top left of the screen, followed by a top right tap. (repeat the taps until you see a "Engineering Screen Contents")

2. you need a Mirror to read your phone's screen. now using only the touchpad to navigate and select options. scroll to the option titled "OS Engineering Screen"

3. after that scroll and open to "LCD"

4. Once there, about 6 options down. there is an option titled "LCD Autodect: disabled" select it using the touchpad to show a pop up screen with 6 options.

5. select "Enable LCD Autodetect"

6.exit the engineering menu and reboot your phone. all should be well! i Hope

please note, modifying any other options from the engineering options may damage your phone!
